I know I shouldn't have gotten in the car, but it was late, and my phone was dead. I would have called for a ride.

The place you just came out of didn't have a phone or a room full of people with cell phones?

Most people will be kind enough to let someone borrow a phone looking for a ride to get home safely. There is always other choices, you just didn't put that much effort in it either because a lack of judgement or your judgement really was impaired afterall.

I figured as much. I personally don't think you should've gone to jail if what you've said is true, but I can see how you did go to jail. Like 03trubluGT said, it's up to a cops discretion and he might have just been in a "I don't want to deal with this" mood. Which sucks, because it shouldn't be like that, but it is.

Yeah, I don't blame the cop, I blame myself for one and also my friend who was driving like an idiot. Lesson learned though none the less.

Well in all honesty, I didn't plan on things to pan out the way they did, if I knew now what I didn't know then, than hell yeah I would have made more of an effort to find a different ride.

Actually my license is invalid at the moment so I wasn't even going to ask.

Well let me put it this way, being in Oak Cliff at 2:30 AM after loading all of my friends music equipment into his car and no one else around to give me a ride, I vote my friend to drive! End of story, besides even if I had decided to drive, I wouldn't have known how the hell to get back to the highway.

I should have pulled out my phone and video taped the whole incident, I would have been less likely to be charged with anything IMO. The police officer would have been afraid of many thing such as my steady hand, and non slurred speech.

I wasn't about to drive after my friend was being arrested. And I should have added that my phone was dead, but good eyes my friend.

Now you're just be negative. I'm not preaching, it's called common sense. Don't drive and drive, don't get in a car with someone doing it either. If you get caught, count your blessings it could have been worse. And don't bitch about it when you know it's something wrong in the first place when you get caught. It's simple really.
