And if we are talking about familial or cultural problems, it will hurt their elders in the long run when they aren't able to be cared for or fed, when no one is able to buy them medical care or food. And in Japan, care for their elders has always been important.


If we are talking environmental ethics, then you want to talk about having less kids in Somalia or someplace where the population is already dangerously young (because people don't live long lives), the yearly wage income per family is like 40 dollars, and famine is likely, sure, they need to stop popping out babies, not an industrialized nation like japan.

i don't blame japan for having strict immigration laws. in fact i applaud that. that avoids all the stupid problems we have here like "racism".

ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"? That's part of the problem with why the Japanese birth rate is declining. It's been proven that as a society becomes more educated and focused on becoming successful economically, birthrates decrease.

Look at our population here. White people are being outbred 4:1 by blacks and hispanics. Why? Several reasons. One, they have no problem starting families when theyre 14 yrs old. Two, education is not a priority. Not even on the radar. Three, why work when you can just keep making babies and have your mom take care of the kids while you go out and party?

Of course there are always exceptions to these rules, but you get my point.

Economic/educational success=decline in population. Compare the birthrate of Ethopia vs Japan and see who's winning.

I have a feeling this will get nowhere with you but here's a shot...It's talking about the financial burden on the young with a disproportionate amount of elderly. If people saved properly the reliance on government funded retirements would be less severe. The reliance on family to take care of the old would be less severe. Please tell me you just misread what I wrote.

If it were up to me, I'd say scrap social security an let me put that in my 401K. But no...I'm paying for a benefit I most likely won't get mug of anything from.

Another reason the birth rate in Japan is slow low is the work ethic. They are so fucked over with work that their family life suffers. Who wants to have kids when you don't get to enjoy them? My nephew almost never gets to see his dad because he leaves for work in the morning and doesn't come home until very late in the day. He's an executive at a Japanese oil company and has next to no family life. Thus they have only ONE child.

No, it explains how the population in developed, educated countries is slowing down, while in underdeveloped, uneducated countries, the population boom is continuing, filling the world with more and more aide/welfare recipients.
