  • What a crappy day

It all started off good then a parent to one of my boys friends comes home saying my boy had an accident. Raced over to their house to find my son laying in the back yard, just alittle ways off the trampoline with a broken leg.

A trip to the hospital confirmed it. Luckily no surgery and just an immobilzer for now. I'm sure tuesday or wednesday he will be getting a cast. A week before spring break to.

I knew this day would come just not this dang soon.

It's not a compound thank god. It really didn't swell up either. Just a clean simple break. Thank god.

That's good. It seems like with boys it is almost a given. He'll have fun letting everyone sign his cast.

Only thing I ever broke as a kid was my nose. Holy shit that hurt. Blood out the yin yang, too.

Trampolines are dangerous. Over the years, I've known people (and some adults) that have had serious injuries on those death traps. Your neighbor's insurance should cover the cost, by the way.

We aren't going to worry to much about the cost. We have really, really good insurance through the fire department my wife works for.

I have broken a shit ton of bones and never got scared but this scared me. Hate to see my kids hurt.

I damn near broke my back on one when I was 15....tried doing a backflip (stupid) and after all was said and done I landed on the railing (facing up) with my torso on the springs, my feet damn near touching the ground, and my lower back layed out on the bar....if I had hit an inch higher on my back, I know I would've broken it

Shit happens. Kids will be reckless. Support him and let him know you did stupid shit when you were a kid and learned from your mistakes.

Realizing you are human is part of growing up , this is coming from a late thirtys guy who had a stick run through his ear while crashing a freeride bike and breaking a collar bone a year ago . My girls play soccer and the injuries they get hurt more than anything that's happened to me . I have 1 balls out goalie and a center mid who won't quit till she's thrown out or carried off the field ! They scare the fuck out of me but knowing all the chicks in the ER gets us taken care of quickly . This is just one of lifes lessons , he will learn or get better . By the way you must be a good guy to not rail the home owners insurance!

I was a daredevil growing up and now that my oldest girl is fixing to be 10, I'm paying for what I put my parents through lol. She loves to ride on my R1 and she has her own PW80 and that little somebitch is fast. She doesn't know what part throttle is either lol. I keep waiting for the day when it's gonna be an ER visit from her crashing, but she's never gonna learn to ride and be careful till it hurts. Hope your son heals up quick, but I bet he's right back at it soon enough lol.

My son is seven. He's done really well for this. Hasn't complained or anything about pain. Just giving him Motrin at this point.

It's an accident. Plain and simple. Not going to file on him for an accident. Insurance in this neck of the woods is high enough.

Pretty minor injury. He will be healed in 2wks.

Eric, you can't have a compound injury with a nondisplaced fracture.
