When we had our house built there were a shit ton of spiders in all the empty lots around here. I used triacizide, the kind you pour into the ortho bottle, attach a garden hose and spray. Whatever setting they say to use, set it about %25 or %50 higher, it literally killed the spiders within a few seconds! They curled up into little balls of spider death, it was great!

I am pretty much scared as fuck of spiders, but I leave 'em be mostly. They only eat other bugs. Get rid of the bugs, no spiders. Get rid of the spiders, you'll have more bugs. They aren't after you.

This, and if you spray you're whole lawn it will git rid of the mosquito's and gnats that live down in the grass. I always mix mine with liquid seven to kill off the ticks and flea's as well.
