  • Anyone here turn their PC into a DVR for your TV?

Ok, so my cable bill went up to 60 dollars a month for basic channels and some family channel BS. So I'm looking to cancel my cable, and getting Netflix streaming, and get an HD antennae since we basically watch local TV shows. Has anyone added a tuner to their PC so they can record the local shows to watch later on your TV? I'm sure it's possible but not sure how to go about it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Randy

Windows Media Center has a great ui and supports the HD tuner. You might get an HDHomeRun so you have multiple tuners in one package.

There are several inexpensive tuners available at Frys, Newegg, Tigerdirect, Amazon...or Ebay that will do what your wanting. Some of them even have an FM stereo tuner. I have a Kworld PCI HDTV tuner card installed in both of my desktop computers and they can record up to 1080p with digital stereo sound for as long as your hard-drive can support...or you can lower the quality to extend recording time. I have a USB HDTV tuner I use with my Macbook Pro that will do the same thing (minus the fm tuner). They are fairly inexpensive. I would recommend a GOOD antenna or your signal may be inconsistent.
