oh yeah, I know what you mean. you're talking more in the lines of tamales you have to buy. I try not to buy them unless my mom or aunts recommend them and even then it's hit or miss. you know, no one can ever make them like your moms.

In my experience the best tamales you can get are the old women who take orders for additional income. I have probably eaten tamales in restaurants like 3-4 times in my life.

Call Delia's that I mentioned above and order a couple dozen. Better than any little old Mexican lady I've ever ordered from, and that's ALL I used to order from. Just sayin...

I don't doubt that there are some good ones out there, I just usually don't like them in restaurants. I'll definitely keep them in mind though.

I'm probably going to order 10 dozen or so here soon, to have some for Christmas. If you want, let me know what kind you like, and I'll order you a dozen. I've had them all, and they are all fantastic. Word to the wise though - the bean and cheese aren't bean and cheddar. It's beans and queso fresco.

I usually like pork myself, have never had bean and cheese. That sounds interesting. I'll let you know.

Never heard of beans and cheese.

We normally have pulled pork from pork butt.

They have pork, bean and cheese, carnitas, chicken, chicken and cheese, etc. I've had tamales filled with just about anything you can think of, because I like to try different, new things. They all do it for me, if the stuffing is cooked right. I've had some chicken ones that were just flat out nasty. Steamed chicken, no seasoning. That's not how Delia's does it though.
