Even those people need fuel for transportation unless they're using a horse and buggy. It's a pipe dream I know, but by now we should have an alternative to gasoline, I believe. There are many reasons we don't and many forces/special interests that prevent the development of these technologies, and that is the real problem. In the broad spectrum our energy is still cheap, so where is our motivation to innovate? It's a clusterfuck.
The thing is that we will be ran by what ever form of energy that they choose to implement. If we have electric vehicles, electricity will be the form we get fucked by. Same with natural gas, or hydrogen fuel cells, or what ever else implemented.

The issue is that it takes a certain amount of stored energy in what ever form to do the things we want done, be it heating/cooling, transportation, construction, etc. Having that energy form will dictate the quality of life and type of lifestyles. The current easiest form of energy to use is oil-based. If it moves to another form, there will be people and governments that will do what ever it takes to control it, to the point that it effects the world.

You still don't have any idea what you're talking about. You're such an idiot dude. You are exactly the problem we have. Did it ever occur to you that Obama used the word "reserve" with the word "consumption" in the same sentence? Do you know what the difference is between those two words? You're the one that needs to do the research, clearly. I literally just told you what you're saying is wrong, and your answer is to throw a tantrum and tell me to read up. I'm not going to do the work for you, get off your ass and figure out what the difference between reserve, and consumption is, and why they do not belong in the same sentence. You're the one embarrassing yourself to knowledgeable people. I don't see the benefit in wasting my time to make you appear like you know what you're talking about. I'd rather just laugh at your dumb ass. There is a reason the statement is factually incorrect - to mislead dumb asses like yourself. And boy did it work.

Your fuel consumption will go down but your maintenance costs will go up. People have done the math many times and generally it's a wash between the two modes of transport.

The money you save on fuel will be spent on tires protective gear, chains ect.

My FZ6 gets between 45 and 50 mpg depending on headwinds and load and it's not much cheaper than just driving my car when you figure all costs into it. I rode simply because I like to ride not to save money.

In fact if you like rising enough you might start spending more lol.

Obama is coming out here to the oilfields tomorrow to brag about how great he is for the oil industry.

KDBC CBS 4 News provides local news, weather, sports, community events and items of interest for El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, NM and nearby towns and communities in Clint, Fabens, Socorro, San Elizario, Canutillo, Vinton, Anthony, Ysleta, Horizon City, Fort Bliss, Van Horn, Fort Hancock, Tornillo, Westway, La Mesa, Mesilla, Mesquite, San Miguel, Vado, Deming, Alamogordo, White Sands, Chaparral, Berino, Chamberino, Dona Ana, Elephant Butte, Hatch, La Union, Radium Springs, Sunland Park, Santa Teresa and Truth or Consequences (Tor C).

President Barack Obama will travel to Carlsbad this week, as party of a 2 day trip that will focus on renewable energy.

On Wednesday, the nation's leader will visit oil and gas fields near Carlsbad, which is home to more than 70 active drilling rigs.

President Obama will highlight his commitment to expanding domestic oil and gas production through what the Administration calls the "all-of-the-above" strategy.

Before landing in New Mexico, President Obama will tour a solar energy facility in Colorado. On Thursday, he will be in Oklahoma to discuss construction of a pipeline that will transport oil to the Gulf of Mexico.

He is going to preach to people like QIK46 how much more drilling we're doing. QIK46 will tell all his buddies why he is so great, because Obama said he is doing more. The entire time he and his friends are unaware that 100% of this drilling is done in spite of him, all on private land.

Just got my monthly bonus for saving fuel for the railroad. $525 was deposited on my citi debit card this month. I use the money to put gas in my truck and what ever is left over buys beer and steaks. Looks like that will be about $300 this month.

Add to the mix 2 refineries on the east coast (one in Pennsylvania) have shut down completely due to expensive EPA regulations. It wasn't profitable for them to continue to refine there. East coast has to truck A LOT of their fuel from the Gulf refineries now.

Gas was $1.78 when this idiot took office. Him shutting down drilling in the Gulf, going after oil companies for profits, the Keystone pipeline, him and his Sec of Energy stating they want higher gas prices and the EPA and their regulations preventing more refineries all have contributed to the gas prices.

And this is what I paid in NZ last May. $20 bucks for 9.7 liters
