  • need a 99-04 hood ASAP, or where to find one today

friend of mine lost their hood on the freeway and of course it's about to start storming raining. the hood didn't hit anyone and it on the shoulder but is all fucked up. curious if anyone has one, doesn't matter the color or if it's all scratched up or has dings/small dents. friend has cash to buy one but doesn't wanna deal with salvage yards if they dont have to

last but not least, of course having a hood is good(duh), but how unsafe would it be driving around in the rain without one? i am thinking it is not safe for the motor/electronics but figure it wouldnt hurt to ask

    thanks guys

It should be OK driving in the rain, now just sittin, I would probably throw something over the COP's just to be safe. Everything else is water proof'd.

Yeah, the hood's primary purpose is to keep debris from getting in/out, not water, but it doesn keep things dry as well as a secondary purpose.

It will fit, the top two mounting holes on the HL panel will need to be re-drilled about a 1/4 inch back to clear bumper cover from the hood.

                    well the thing is.....

Actually I had this happen to me last May on 121 in Frisco, I was going about 80 and I noticed the hood just "floating" up and down a little. As soon as I thought to move my foot to the brake and slow down to pull over, WHAM hood came up, windshield shattered (little splinters of glass everywhere) and I was left looking through the gap at the bottom of the hood just to see where I was going...sucked

Turns out the hood latch failed and the "look cool" functional hood pins that I paid $30 for failed at the same time....none the less, I put a new hood with a re-enforced plate as well as some "fail proof" hood latches on...just in case
