OMG people. Her Taurus has had charging issues for a few months. I told her a couple months back to replace the alt because when I tested it I could see the regulator was failing. It would fluxuate between 12.2 volts and 16.7 volts. If I jumped her from my car and her alt did a power spike on startup I could fry one of my computers.
If you know anything about BMWs then you know their computers are very sensative to power spikes and fry easily.
Pardon me for not wanting to blow a $1500 computer jumping an $800 car.
Had I been in my shop truck I would have jumped her car no problem cause the truck can take the spike but this was around midnight and my truck was 20 miles away and locked up in my shop.
Has nothing to do with class or attitude, it has to do with me being a mechanic and knowing whats safe and whats not.
I paid to have her car towed home since she was broke and will end up fixing it for free cause shes broke and my partners sister-in-law.
Stop hating cause its easy. People assume too much here. There are some great people on this site but there are also people who jump to conclusions too often as well.

Invest in a 60 buck jumper box. Any shop should own one. It will also pay for itself as i used to charge 25 bucks a call.

Funny you mention that. I just ordered one off ebay last night. I had an elcheapo Walmart one but it worked for crap. Dunno why I still have it in storage.... should use it as target practice. LOL
