I was also told I was not a great candidate for that either, but they would be willing to "try" it. I said no thanks! I really would like to have it done, but I am NOT going to risk my eyes if I am on the border for it being successful. I will wait until the technology evolves some more, or just stick to glasses/contacts. Thanks for the info and your experiences.
Not really sure exactly what is done during PRK other than they do everything "above" the cornea flap instead of creating one be its too thin... I would absolutely NOT invest in PRK unless they were certain it would work for you. Too painful

I've been watching this thread. I just got new glasses/prescription last Saturday, and while it's nice to have my vision back to where it was 6 years ago when I last had my eyes checked......I'm tired as hell of wearing glasses.

This might be something I do in 2012.

SS Junk, how did it go? I'm thinking about getting Lasik within the next month or two.

So far so good. Only hang up was how badly my eyes burned afterwards. Also extremely sensitive to sunlight. It's been almost five hours since and I can now tolerate indoor light and am able read fairly well. Right now it just feels like I have really dry contacts in my eyes. I'm a little concerned because my left eye is still a little more blurry than the right, but get a checkup tomorrow and we'll see what's up.
The procedure was a bit uncomfortable when the corneas were sliced, but everything else was not bad. They gave me some stuffed animal to hold onto while it all went down. Each eye took about 2 or 3 minutes. The actual laser regiment took 30 seconds for each eye.

Man I so want to do this. It's definitely better to do it via flex fund right? Something about pre-tax savings?

I'out of contacts and my left one is getting fuzzy from over use...don't really want to buy any and I lost my prescription.

Yea using a companies health care flex spening account allows you to pay for medical expenses with pretax dollars. That roughly translates to a 30% savings.

I allocated 3k for 2012 during my companies benefit open enrollment. I just put it on a credit card and will file for my reimbursement Monday.

Do you find one of your eyes is a little weaker than the other? I'm going through this right now and the doctor says give it a few more days and it should clear up.
As far as money goes, the office I went to offered a no interest/26mo payment plan.

My left eye was slightly worse at first, but it was worse before the surgery. That evened out about the same time I quit doing the after surgery drops and I would say both eyes are equal now.

I liked Dr. Beebe who did mine and my mom's. He's at the North Texas Cornea Associates across from North Park Mall.

no both of my eyes seem about even but they were pretty close to each other with only slight amount of astigmatism.
my eyes are still adjusting and clearing up some so i wouldn't say i'm at 20/20 just yet but i can see with out my glasses or contacts now. have to go in tomorrow for a check up.

I cant say I do but I can put up with the process to get the end result.
When they describe it as a cattle farm, they mean it.

you are kind of in a daze and can't see much when they bring you to the lasik room. his helpers get you all setup but i liked that booth is the one who handles the eye clamp and both stations that matter which are the corneal incision and the laser correction portion along with flipping open and closed the cornea flap.
