Shit, people hate just to hate.
Bear Grylls isn't a hack. They tell you in the beginning of the show that a lot of it is staged in order to demonstrate things. They even had an episode showing what it is like with all the crew around performing these feats.

Same deal, its staged but a little less so. That show is pretty funny sometimes when they are griping at one another. I remember this one scene had me cracking up. I think his wife was oblivious to his innuendo.
