Can you purchase a vehicle with a bill of sale and still file for lost title? Or is the only person that can file for it is the one who's name is on it?

Scribing of the vin, two appraisals, and then go to a main tax office and they will have you fill out a packet and give you more paperwork. When you leave you go to an insurance place and pay for a bond for the certified value of the vehicle( 10 percent IIRC). Take that bond paperwork and your packet to the local DMV or back where you got it and they will transfer your title and send you the bonded. As long as no claims are made on the vehicle in three years you can pay five bucks and get a regular title after three.Whos your Daddy?

I had to do a bonded title on a 93 Mark because the previous owner died and could not sign. It took a day of driving around to get the process done; pain in the ass.
