So you get 65% of the pay for doing 50% of the work? Sign me up!
2080 hours a year is standard minimum for a full time employee.

Uh, most Americans spend 2000 hours per year working (40x(52-2)).

This is between 61 and 65% of what average U.S. employees make in other jobs with similar education and experience.
So you get 65% of the pay for doing 50% of the work? Sign me up!

Now that is a specialized skill required specialized education and that demands a premium on salary and I completely agree with that. But your average public school teacher is not a specialized skill. Your average graduate could teach just about any class.

I'm graduating with a Masters in May and won't be doing what I'm getting certified in (even though it would be at least a $15k/year jump) because I love what I'm doing right now.

As I said in the original post, I copied/pasted from our message board. It was something our instructor had posted. Don't like it? GTFO.

    Now...where are my potato skins??
Sooooo, you're willing to take a pay cut?

I'm sure you're aware that teachers have one of the most thankless jobs out there, and if your family really had been teachers for as long as you say they have then you wouldn't be bitching about it.

That is what I missed, all I noticed was 6.xx% wasn't close to 23%.
