No, I just thought you meant that as in your wife was looking for a teaching job...carry on.

STFU, dude. I don't know what your hard-on for me is and why you like to give me so much shit, but I'm not complaining about anything. I fucking LOVE my job and wouldn't do anything else regardless of the pay. I'm graduating with a Masters in May and won't be doing what I'm getting certified in (even though it would be at least a $15k/year jump) because I love what I'm doing right now.

As I said in the original post, I copied/pasted from our message board. It was something our instructor had posted. Don't like it? GTFO.

        Now...where are my potato skins??

          1. In 2008 more than 55 million children were in preK-12 schools with 90% enrolled in public schools. The total by 2020 is predicted to be 57.9 million with 91% in public school. Texas is among the top four schools in projected increase in public school enrollment by 2020—Texas = 23%, Alaska = 25%, Arizona = 26%, and Nevada = 28%.
Does that math look odd to anyone else?

A nationwide increase of almost 3 million, no the math doesn't look odd to me.

No, it's roughly a 3.2 million increase, 6.4% nationwide. No data is given by state.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

That is what I missed, all I noticed was 6.xx% wasn't close to 23%.

You think you're the only one who has teachers in the family? And where the fuck did you get $11/hr "gubment" job? Teachers don't get paid to take "3 months" off. They get paid for the work they do, and they can choose to either take it evenly distributed throughout the whole year, or get paid more each paycheck during the school year only.

I'm sure you're aware that teachers have one of the most thankless jobs out there, and if your family really had been teachers for as long as you say they have then you wouldn't be bitching about it.

Everyones job is thankless...you don't see teachers thanking taxpayers for their salary do you? I'm very happy to have had some good teachers but don't forget what drives salary. A lot of the friends I grew up with that are teachers now are definitely not the ones I said "wow...(s)he's so smart". Construction workers put in a lot of effort too but nearly anyone can do it. It's all about rarity of skill set and demand.

And the truth is just about anyone can teach.

Exactly! That's an honorable profession. So what's wrong with fixing somebody's car so that they can get to work the next day because of me? There's honor in that. Yeah there's honor in that ... and there's honor in taking that 40 minute train ride so those college kids can come in in the morning and have clean floors and those waste baskets emptied.

Oh get over yourself. I've subbed at AISD highschools when I was between jobs. It isn't rocket science. Your average intelligence person who has a degree can teach a classroom full of kids.
