My company is coming off a record year. Gas prices are a concern moving forward but then many people may be looking to purchase something more economical. Should be interesting.

Busy as shit and working every 12 to 14hrs. I actually wish it would slow down some so they would lay off some of the new folks. I'm tired of working with guys that have been there 2 months and act like they know everything. It would also be nice to get a closer parking spot.

Union mentality. Instead of getting to work early, for a better parking spot, he just wants the new guys fired. Makes perfect sense.

I was layed off Dec. 2008 after 11 years with that company. Got a new job March 2009, the initial pay was $3000/year less than my old job.

I've done well & been promoted, plus getting good commisions....now I make $20,000/year more than I did at my old job in 2008!

Chili was laid off in Feb. 09 and ended up taking a job out of necessity by June, but he had a 40% pay cut. That hurt. Bad. However, things are looking up and much more positive than they have been in a while so we shall see where it takes us...

LMAO Mr. know it all has posted again. Umm we have no scheduled work time. The phone rings and they tell me to get my ass to work. I'm required to be there 2 hours later. It's not shift work. So no matter how early you show up chances are you still won't find a parking spot.

The other company in our building just hired 45 new people. We didn't have 45 parking spaces to begin with. So obviously, there is no place to park, ever. You don't hear me crying and wanting people fired over it.

We're an oilfield contractor so needless to say it is pretty damn busy around here.

The oilfield is feast or famine, you have to make your money while you can. 08-mid 09 was slow, but just talk to anyone who went through the 80's if you want to hear about not good.

No, they are saying ALL of the 80's (so approx. 9 years) THEN 2008-2010 (2 years) so a total of about 11 years.

I work for a telecom and networking equipment manufacturer so it's been nothing but layoffs and bullshit for the last decade since the dot com bubble burst. My company just laid off 530 employees a few weeks ago. Having to travel more and be on call all the time is getting old. I finally got a raise this month for the first time since '08.
I would go somewhere else but I wouldn't be able to maintain my current level of compensation from what I've seen out there.
