I read what you said Matt, but then you point out the differences between being stopped and the TSA setting up a checkpoint. So you're against them doing a traffic stop but not a chokepoint? Or are you against both?

There is a difference.

A "checkpoint" or "chokepoint" is like a net.

A "traffic stop" singles out a vehicle.

If I got stopped and some TSA agent started pulling powers of arrest/search, I think I would request a supervisor and maybe call 911 to get a marked local LEO out with me.

There's no way in hell a TSA agent is going to start going through my belongings on a traffic stop when they have no authority to make a stop to begin with.

Oh, and the original article says "random inspectoins", it says nothing about traffic stops.

Say a VIPR unit pulls over an off duty LEO that doesn't want to cooperate. Who has the authority to decide how the stop goes? The LEO or the TSA?
