I haven't been fishing since my grandpa died almost 20yrs ago.

We used to fish every chance we got.
I remember days where he used to take us to the stocked catfish ponds off 10 mile bridge and he would spend hundreds, just for us to spend some time together.
I also have a close friend that used to fish bass tournaments and he said that deep sea is the only way to go(he is not on the forums, but I linked him to your pictures and this thread).
I honestly can afford whichever and you know I love to eat me some fishies afterwards!
I will do this before my time on this earth comes.

I have a fear of the ocean, so I never enjoyed fishing like that.
But that seems real bad ass and for a pretty good price!

On our cruise back from Mexico years ago, we passed thru what must be that place you went to. We passed thru 100's and 100's of oil platforms late at night and it was a site to behold. Many were connected by what looked like bridges between them….very pretty at night!

My father in the late '50's went on a fishing trip out of Freeport to catch red snapper. They left port at 3 AM and traveled what seemed like all day to get to the platforms. The fishing was amazing.....each line had multiple hooks and each pull usually netted multiple fish. My father was so hooked on fishing after that trip that he bought a small Chris Craft and that started our families’ love affair with boats and fishing from then on. Years later, after retiring, he ended up with a 47 ft. Hatteras as his last boat he owned. My two brothers and I grew up on his boats and that was where we went on every weekend, rain or shine. Guess you called it our life. I miss the Gulf Coast, the fishing, the smell of the salt water in the early morning!

Your catch looked great! Brings back memories, albeit, closer to shore for our fishing out in Galveston Bay. We fished every buoy out there it seemed!

I HIGHLY recommend it! I don't care how strong you are, tuna will show you otherwise.

The crew made bottom rigs for Vermillion Snapper, and some guys were pulling up fish on all three hooks.

I don't see how its worth it when you only caught 6 fish. I can do that from the Port Aransas jetti for free...

I have about 3.5 pounds left that need to be eaten pretty quick or it's going to end up grilled.

So did you only catch 6 fish, or am I misinterpreting something? Considering the average would be at least 27 fish per person, and you admit staying up late to fish when others slept, wouldn't that be considered a bust?

Unless I'm missing something, I think I'd be very disappointed with those results. That much time and money for 6 fish just seems crazy.

I think I'd rather spend a third of what you did and limit out on big stripers on Texoma, if I was going to pay to fish.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude, just trying to understand.

No you read right, he only caught 6 fish, but 5 of them were black tuna and Im assuming that the in the picture was the biggest one. I feel the same, i pay that much money the fish better be jumping in the boat or at a minimum cast pull in.
Conisering that his last few fishing outings have been "BUSTS" I guess this could be (in his eyes) a bounty...
