Highschool Shooting in Ohio

It would probably make too much sense / cost too much money. Back when I was in high school 10 years ago all we had were some fat rent-a-cops with pepper spray, and they mainly hung out by the cafeteria and vending machines getting fatter.

Most schools have SROs (school resource officers) but they are right it costs a lot of money. My dad has been an SRO for years now after doing 13+ years on the street and the schools he SROs for actually pay a good portion of his yearly salary to the Sheriff's Department.

On top of that he's the only SRO for 3 different schools, so there are times where the school has no officer on the grounds.

There's no perfect solution but giving people who are there the means to defend themselves is a good start and one of the only functional answer short of making everyone stay home and lock themselves in.

Every school I've ever worked in had it's own RCO officer. Unfortunately, it's almost a complete necessity. Hell, even Southlake has it's own at the high schools.

When I went to high school in the mid/late 80's we had a DPD officer in the building at all times. In fact, we had 5-10 of them for a few weeks or so after a race riot broke out in '88. Anyway, why can't schools have at least 1 LEO at the school? It probably wouldn't prevent things like this from happening, but it might reduce the amount of injuries/deaths when something goes down.

My high school went on lockdown this morning too. Kid made bomb and shooing threats on Facebook last night. We are just learning that the kid actually had a firearm in his backpack. It almost got real in Carrollton.

You know, I think more could be learned from these kids other than just throwing them in prison for the rest of their life...not that they deserve leniency but we deserve to have a better understanding.

Lock his ass in a mental hospital for all I care but at least give the Psych's access to pick his mind, perhaps one day we can target kids who "fit" the profile and perhaps attack the issue before it becomes an issue.

People say, “oh, I know what is wrong” or “oh, I know where we messed up” and yet nothing to this point is being done regarding an early warning/detection system; there is a pattern to everything in life, just have to figure it out.

What happened to kids fighting? Gunning down an unarmed person is further proof of America making pussies out of their youth. Probably has something to do with the penalty of fighting is pretty much the same as shooting them.
