  • Rivers and Creeks

Ok so I recently obtained a canoe and was wondering where are some places close by Allen/Plano/McKinney area to take it. Yes I plan on taking it to Lavon, but I prefer a creek.
    Wanna see my care face???

You really arnt far from Denison and the red river. You can also shoot over to ray Roberts and paddle into the creek arms. You should get on Texasfishingforum if you arnt already, there is a kayak section with lots of good paddle info

you can drop in at renner and 75 at the park behind frys and canoe as far south as you want, it crosses plano road, jupiter, brand, north garland, naaman, 190, 78, 190 again, pleasant valley, firewheel parkway, 66, miller, then you can get someone to pick you up at lake ray hubbard.

Tell me more about this Lavon?
Last summer me and my buddy did like 28 miles (canoe) in about 17 hours. Dropped in on the Brazos a little south of Lake whitney dam, and pulled out about 4am at the I-35 bridge. We do a couple 3-8 mile trips a year.

I think you are talking about Rowlett Creek, about 6 or 7 years ago a buddy and I dropped in it at Shiloh, just South of Campbell. It was tons of fun, and I even caught a catfish with my bare hands!

Problem with this is I'd have to find someone with a truck or trailer to come pick me up! I have considered the East Fork Trinity, since I could drop in up North.

I find this nice little fishing hole on Lavon fishing from the bank, my friend and I fished for a good 6 hours and came up with nothing...whoever the fish were jumping like crazy about 10 feet out from where we could cast...and let me add these were easily 2' long LMB. I told him it would be nice if we had a canoe, and he just laughed. Fast forward to this past week, this old guy I know says "Hey I have this canoe, and I don't need it." he was gonna throw it out! I told him I will take it. So now I have a canoe and I can go catch those big boys now!

Are you saying that because you have a car? They sell a relatively cheap car kit at academy. I have a 12 1/2 kayak and have put it on top of my Honda accord. It's quite the sight but gets the job done lol

yah I grew up in that neighborhood in the 90's, spent alot of time down there, those used to be dirt bike/atv/bike trails back in there where you parked your car. The trails went all the way to brand and campbell and north to breckenridge park east to firewheel mall.

In the late 90's they cut a hole straight thru the trails and built 190 and the mall.

Yep, you can still ride down there, but all the jumps that they had are long gone. Still a few trails you can ride though!
