I'm gonna run with the typical DFWM paranoia that the video will be lost.

I don't see why it would get lost lol. All the video will show is that he didn't get over. Will be hard to judge the speed on the video.

So the question can be raised that if the video makes it difficult to judge his speed, why would the officer be any different? Remember, you don't have to prove the officer wrong, only that there's reasonable doubt.

Maybe the trooper radared him? I highly doubt the trooper even shows to court on this though. He can generate more revenue by just staying on the highway that day.

He would have had to clock him as he was driving up to the vehicle, not after he passed it. After all, after he passes the stopped trooper he's free to speed back up to the speed limit at what ever rate he chooses.

I have a handheld radar and it is very easy to do this.

You would be amazed how many people don't slow down or move over.

Another thing that people don't get is that this law applies to every roadway, not just the highways. If you are on a city street that is 40 mph, you have to slow to 20 or move over.

So the trooper had enough time to walk back to his car, get in and start running radar/laser in ~15 seconds, in addition to all the other things he has to do? Aren't you supposed to radio in after the stop is concluded?

I know a lot of people don't slow down and don't know that it applies to all roadways. A lot of people are dumbasses too.

Traffic was very heavy and add the fact of onlooker slowdown to look at the pretty lights and the video should be quite clear I was going SLOW like noticeably under 50mph.

It was a total BS citation. He was pissed I got on the throttle after I passed him and he figured he'd chase me down to teach me a lesson. I will be moving to get both citations dismissed even if I end up having to hire a lawyer. It's a principle matter at this point. The cop was a dick and I'd rather give an attorney a few hundred bucks than even a $100 to the DPS.

File a FOI for the video. I think it takes about 10 days.

You will have to contact DPS for the video. The court has nothing to do with the video.

But... but.... I thought having a CHL automatically got you out of a ticket?

It typically got you off with only a warning, at least from Texas DPS troopers, back in the mid 90's when the Texas CHL regs were first issued.

A friend of mine got pulled over in Euless. He was driving a new at the time Lincoln Continental. He is a professional. He was wearing a suit. He offered his license and CHL. The Euless ding-dong starts yelling at him "do not move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do not move!!!!!!!!!!where is your gun?!!!!!" etc.

I haven't gotten a ticket since I got my CHL 15 years ago, and I've been stopped numerous times. Coincidence? Maybe. But probably not.

The problem is you were stopped by a DPS trooper, they even write fellow officers. All the newer cars only come with one plate. I have never written the ticket for no front plate. It is a good tool to use to stop someone around 3am when they should not be running around. Passing emergency vehicle: law states you shall move over one lane, or drop to 20 under speed limit. I stop people all the time who suck my doors off on traffic stops. My take: CHL, Polite, pull over off the highway for my safety, NO TICKET. I would take it to court.
