A police chase ended in Fort Worth when a driver suspected of carjacking drove into the Trinity River Friday morning.
According to Fort Worth police, a man armed with a knife carjacked a person at about 7 a.m. at a convenience store near Lancaster and Riverside drives.
Officers responding to the carjacking broadcast a description of the stolen vehicle and the man was spotted a short time later.
Patrol officers gave chase and, according to police, after about 5-10 minutes the man drove down a 30-foot embankment and into the Trinity River.
Several Fort Worth police officers went down the embankment to retrieve the man from the partially submerged car. Fort Worth police said the man fought them all the way up the hill as he was taken into custody.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious.
Exactly what charges the man may face has not yet been determined
