Man this sucks. 2 nails in 2 sidewalls in a week. It sucks how sidewall damage means a new tire.

A tire place here in Mineral wells have patches that work on the side walls... They've used them on my tires a few times actually...

Getting the tire sealed isn't the problem. The belts coming apart is.

Yea, if that is the risk then it isn't worth it.

            The sidewalls don't have belts.

The problem is that the sidewall is just rubber. When it is penetrated, the solidity is affected and consequently there really is no way to safely repair it. You can patch it, but if you get that tire up to high speed the heat could take that repair out. Hope you're ready...

I've booted sidewalls on 21.5 low-pro truck tires w/out issue. Was it the smartest thing, no. But if the tire can't be capped again, may as well run it till it lets loose, if it's gonna.

I know belt is the wrong term to use, but a majority of people don't understand what you mean when you explain to them the construction of a tire. If either a belt OR a ply come apart, it's bad news.

I plugged a couple tires on the sidewall when I was younger and less gainfully employed. No issues, but I didn't run it much over 80 mph.
