  • Obtaining a title to a car?

So I was given this 91 explorer for free. The guy who gave it to me put head gaskets on it for a guy who just bought it. It overheated again and blew the gasket again or something.. It runs like shit.

Anyways, after the second failure the guy gave up on it and gave it to the guy who did the work, and now I have it.

The guy has the information to the title holder, contacted him and the guy said he has the title in storage..ect..

The explorer is in good shape, runs smooth, a/c works ect..

How do I go about getting a title? Because without a title it's worthless so I'll just scrap it in Sherman.

FYI: Nobody can give you a car that they do not own. My advice is to walk away from this deal, unless..http://window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/14-317.pdf

I'm going to contact the title owner, and try to get it myself, if there is any problems I will send it off to the junker

That's your best bet...I'd imagine if you offer him something like $50-$100 it'll give him enough incentive to find the title or sign a power of attorney for it over to you.

I was going to offer 50$, from what I hear he needs to be at the place in carrolton with me.
