Another vote for the Miata but if your family is already on the fence about your sexuality then you better not go there.
The older ones all leak when it rains BUT they are easy to work on and parts aren't that expensive.
If my wife and I weren't looking to start a family I would have bought one over my Mazda3 5 door.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

The miata sounds cool, they are very fun too drive. I stay far away from used german junk for a dd. I also have had no luck with used hondas and have always marveled at how people would buy a pos honda with a quickness, over other decent used imports.

all i did was give it a major tune plugs/wires valve cover gasket,trans flush, coolant flush, oil change, timing belt and water pump. But then again i do this to every used car that i buy. Its not fast at all but it does have potential of looking nice. Not looking for the ricer look just want it to look nice..
