  • Does anyone else hate the "courtesy reminder" calls..

    from the doctor's office?

I mean, I'm a grown man, I made an appointment, and you really find it necessary to call me the day before and remind me that I made an appointment?

No shit. I have gone a lifetime making it a habit to skip doctor's appointments that I myself have made.

I was actually in the middle of tying a PR knot with a bobbin (attaching 150lb braid to a 170lb shock leader) when my phone rang. I had to set everything down to pick up my phone and find out it was just a "courtesy call". For fuck's sake. The wife was on her way home from work, I just answered it in hopes she was OK and didn't have a mishap.

Sometimes I make recurring appointments three and six months in advance, it's nice to get the call a week before to remind me, the day before is a little much if I already got one a week ago.

You know what's worse? Calls from car dealerships.

I bought a Tahoe in Nov. '10. While I still had paper plates on it some drunk whore hit us head on and totalled it. 15 months later that dealership still calls me to remind me about oil changes, etc. No matter how many times I tell them I don't own it anymore they just say, "Oh, well we can't change the calling list."

Fuck that and fuck you. Stop calling me.

Haha, yep. Nissan still calls me about the Nissan I bought in 2005. I traded that in 2007.

Start making appointments every time they call and don't show up. I'll bet you get off that list.

STD tests are important, Matt! The good doctor is just doing what HD can for society and the hopes you show up.

                      Don't taze me.

Doctors are spread extremely thin and have to book patients back to back to make things work. The reminder call is to preserve resources that could be used elsewhere.

The calls bug me too but I know why they do it.

Everytime I go to a doctors office office there is a line. It pisses me off they want me there on time, it takes 20 minutes to get into the exam room, and another 15-20 min for the doc to actually show up.
