        DFWM comes through again.
The DFWM police need to track you down and ticket you, there is no texting allowed in Arlington sir.(sending this while at Lamar and Collins)

And why are we not building the Keystone pipeline again? I think there were people saying it was not as safe as trains to transfer the oil...

Seriously? This isn't a high speed passenger track thats highly maintained. Broken rail most likely...constant temp changes cause all kinds of havoc on railroad tracks due to constant expansion and contraction...rail fatigue is another common problem with old steel. We had to deal with this on an almost daily basis in Austin.

There's no way that the FDA would allow that to happen, even with a thorough scrubbing. There are strict guidelines on how consumables are to be transported and prepared.

Agreed....that is NOTHING. Worst one I can remember (that didn't kill anyone) 2 engines pulling a rock train derailed at the Y about 2 miles east of downtown Austin in 2007 when one of rails snapped under the weight. Lead engine had passed the break and kept pulling....which dug the rear engine deeper into the ground...the broken rail then punctured the freshly topped off diesel fuel tank and ripped it open as the lead car kept pulling. There was an elementary school directly beside the crossing. This happened at 6am on a weekday. It was a HUGE mess. Evacuations....several VERY major streets were closed...5th, 6th, 7th..right at the start of rush hour. It took several days to clean up the mess...all the dirt, asphalt had to be dug up and hauled off from contamination.

Sorry, don't know jack about trains. Didn't realize that rails had a shelf life for damned sure!

I don't think it was that long ago, hell maybe it was but anyways it happened twice in a week, one freight train and one amtrack. The Amtrack was only the two engines and no cars, it was going to fast at that curve behind the GM plant and wnet off into that little car lot there. I drove by right after it happened just as the fire dept was getting there. There was dirt, rocks and all kinds of shit scattered across divison.

ARLINGTON, Texas - A freight train has derailed in Arlington, prompting building evacuations.

The incident happened in the 500 block of Front Street, near City Hall.
As many as 15 cars, including a tanker, have left the tracks, Arlington Fire Department Lt. Darren Whitfield said.
The tanker is leaking an unknown substance and as a precaution officials are evacuating nearby buildings, including the Dyno-Rock indoor climbing facility.
"Those cars can carry anything from milk to diesel fuel," Whitfield said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the derailment.
There were no reports of injuries.
Whitfield said he did not know how long it would take to clean up the mess.
