    And it doesn't sound like you know much about those religions, either. That's the most blanketed statement I've seen on here in a long time.

    Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet. That's just about where the similarities end. Yes, there are some stories that sound familiar, as with all religions (great flood story, anyone?), but the Muslim interpretation of their whole religion and how to handle your business is completely different. To say they believe in the same God is asinine. That's like saying McDonalds and a steakhouse are the same thing because you can find "beef" on both menus. It's like the game of "telephone." If you were to tell about a God, and one person ends up saying that God wants you to love thy neighbor, proselytize, and believes in an eye for an eye, and the other says to lie about your religion and your intentions so that you can spread your religion to the world and it's ok to kill non-believers, I'd say it's a different God at that point.

      I assume you're a christian as well. If you followed your holy books word for word you'd think it's ok to spread your religion to the world and that it's ok to kill non-believers just like some muslims do.

        I've read the Bible and the Koran. The Koran was written a LONG damned time after the Bible and the Koran mentions this. The Islamic faith (not the political movement that is pretending to be a faith now) was a peaceful religion that treated others fairly, then Momo (may pigs piss on his grave) took over and bastardized it.

        You see, I'm very familiar with Islam, it's history, it's tennants and it's books. Almost as much as I am about my Christian faith.

            It's been brought up in numerous threads you were a part of. I'm not going to quote the passage, but look for the part where Jesus says he didn't come to abolish the old laws. And in the old testament, it says; you guessed it, kill non-believers.

              Oh I remember the threads. Nowhere in the new testament does it mention killing unbelievers. Part of being Christian, the major part, is being under Grace, not the Law. Under the law we were fucked, under grace we have, well...grace.

              No Christian believes in killing non believers. You can't find it, it doesn't exist but I do enjoy your attempt at moral relativism

                Frost is correct, and what Old Testament law says kill non-believers? Remember now racrguy, I said law.

                  law=commandment.

                  Deut 6:13-15

                  Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
                  Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
                  For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

                  Exodus 22:20
                  He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

                    Seriously? This is the problem with shallow heads. You can't just take a few verses and run away with it in thinking you are a religious expert. Those verses have nothing to do with killing non-believers on the spot. What it means is if you do not accept Jesus Christ as your savior before the day of judgment you will then be destroyed with all other non-believers.
                    It means to not worship other gods or you will die in the end times.

                      Nope, not religious at all. I have read both books, for the most part, though. That's why I stated this:

                      "saying that God wants you to love thy neighbor, proselytize, and believes in an eye for an eye"

                      That was the first part, and referring to Christianity.
                      Dictionary.com:
                      "pros·e·lyt·ize
                         [pros-uh-li-tahyz] Show IPA
                      verb (used with object), verb (used without object), -ized, -iz·ing.
                      to convert or attempt to convert as a proselyte; recruit. "

                      So yes, I understand that "good christians" are supposed to spread their faith. I can't recall any part of the bible that Jesus tells anyone to kill non-believers. Maybe someone else can help with the specifics, but he stops a whole village of non-believers from being killed by some of his disciples. They were on their pilgrimage and weren't welcomed in, the disciples suggested killing the non-believers. Jesus says no.

                      Of course, this is if you believe either book. I choose not to.

                        x2. It never once tells Christians to kill anyone. It tells you not to worship false idols or God will deal with you.

                                They did sing a Christion song.

                                At an upcoming concert, the choir is scheduled to sing an Irish folk song and an Christian song titled "Prayer of the Children," in addition to the song by Rahman.
