Yes, but whose to say that drugs didn't cause them to lose it? The cases I have handled, family violence involving drugs were more violent crimes then those without drugs involved. Coincidence? Maybe, who knows.

They are local police doing a local bust. I still can't hate on some college kids doing some drugs or drinking too much. Most people have done one or both growing up.

Still thinking border security helps reduce more than 1 major problem in our country. Instead, we'll just keep swatting the flies instead of cleaning up the shit that attracts them.

edit: Reading the other posts, it cracks me up. So, beyond drugs, the violence, the illegal immigration and porous border for terrorists and other crap - we should just not worry about it. I said more than one major problem and everyone wants to get all defensive.

I'm not blaming the Mexicans per se, I think it's more of political corruption problem and the lack of security on that border. However, a lot of those things would still hold true on other borders but that's the one with the squeakiest wheel right now.

In reference to the "War on Drugs"

The US war on drugs actually helps keep the cartels in business. Making the borders more secure is a separate issue, but fighting harder to forcefully keep the drugs out is just a further waste of resources.

End the war on drugs, decriminalize them, regulate them where possible, tax them, and watch the money go in our country's pockets instead of the cartels'. Use the resources for education, awareness, treatment, etc.

Obviously, it's not that simple, and I'm no politician or lawmaker. But with all of the resources used now that aren't working, it seems like steps could be made to get the ball rolling in a better direction. I believe this will happen. It just may be decades away, yet, sadly.
