What the hell is up with your prices? Who are you trying to compete with? It seems to me that LKQ companies are competing with no one, it used to be that if you wanted a used part you would go to a junk yard (recycler, lol) and buy a part and pay maybe a 1/3 of the price from than an OEM dealer, usually it was cheaper!
Point of fact, today I called my local FORD warehouse to get order a part for a 2011-2012 Mustang, a decklid (trunk), I was quoted $636.00 list and $450.00 my cost. I then called LKQ just to see if I could get it for around....$300.00-$350.00 would be fair. Yeah right, you monkeys wanted $550.00, seriously?
To make matters worse the clown on the other end of phone, had no clue what he was talking about. I told that $7.35 an hour desk chimp that I could get the same exact same part NEW from FoMoCo for $450.00, he begins to tell me, that their trunk comes with a the tail lights? Seriously who the fuck do you think you guys are talking too? I had to remind Mr.Knowitall that the 2010-2012 Musatngs do not have ANY type of tail light or reflectors on them. He chuckled and than chuckled a little more when I asked him if it was his first day.

If you guys keep up with that bullshit price gouging it woun't be lont before you all are out of business.

                /rant.

Yeah we use them for used parts too. Sometimes my boss will just end up buying a new part instead because it's cheaper than lkq. Not to mention almost all the stuff we get from them needs clean up time anyways

I was going to mention that as well. The parts are always greasy, oily, scratched up, dinged up and never the same color. I've even had some parts delivered to me that looked like there were left out in the mud and it rained on them for over a year.

I just get CAPA parts and OEM parts now, less drama and these days cheaper prices.

With alot of the OEM company's price matching now days it is not cost effective on most things . Doors some 1/4 panels and drivetrain parts are about the only thing worth buying . They are the Pawn shop of used stuff . Just because it's used people think they are getting a good deal . They prey on people who don't research prices .

I then called LKQ just to see if I could get it for around....$300.00-$350.00 would be fair. Yeah right, you monkeys wanted $550.00, seriously?

You ended up with a shitty rep. I wouldn't have let you off the phone without getting this sorted out. Not that you would have bought the part from me, but you would have a different perspective.

Let's take your lid as an example: If you need an assembly ( has the big ass emblem and the third brake light in it, plus a latch?) Then you should have been quoted $525. The pricing is setup to be cheaper than buying all these parts (list) after markup of shop cost to the insurance co. Sometimes if you only need a shell, that doesn't work. A good example is the chevy doors. We have them for $600, and the shell lists at $500ish. If you just need a shell, that sounds rediculous, but the hinges are bonded, and cost $300 new, and if you buy a new shell, you have to buy new hinges, and then glue them on. Plus, our door has a window, regulator, handle, belts, etc.

As far as CAPA goes, I'm sure you've dealt with Keystone, since they have the largest inventory in the nation, and since LKQ owns Keystone, as far as corporate is concerned, pick recycled or CAPA, they make money.
As far as quality, we have some junk out there. I can't really speak for DFW, since I work the centex region, but we was and look them over on the dock each morning. The hard part about my job is that the cars we get are used. They have dents and dings and scratches, just like the car that is in the shop does. Even brand new cars on the lot at the dealer have imperfections, since production tolerances are getting looser every year.

Last year I sold just south of 3 million, and the majority of that was body. It not because I'm screwing my customer's over, its because I know what I'm doing, and I'm good at it. My views are my opinion, I don't pretend to talk in behalf of or oficially for LKQ corp.

Find a good rep out of DFW and have a better opinion.
