i have never hidden the fact that i have on occasion edited peoples post... it was only for a laugh though, and it was with people who are friends or people that can take a joke when giving them.
i have NEVER edited/deleted a post/thread because i didn't like the person or what they said. hell there have been a few members here that have talked some serious personal shit about me but it never came across my mind to edit/delete their posts. if enough people dont like me being a mod i have no problem giving it up, but until then.. watch out bitches!
The only moisture detector I have any experience with is my index and middle fingers.

LOL you have a business and you don't have the tool, fly by night roofing company!
It's a $5000 investment man. Everyone can't start out with all the toys. Some people have to build up to tools that are only used once in a while that cost that much. It is also used only for commercial applications, whereas I have previously specialized in residential. If you re-read the first sentence, it is my first commercial account. Is that simple enough for you to comprehend?
What do you do? What qualifies you to judge someone elses company based on one question? Are you really all that?
And I like how you guys all came to Kyles defense. Thanks for the chickenshit tags, and thanks for turning a simple question into your chest pounding thread of the day.
Lastly, thanks to those of you who act like adults and attempted to stick up for me. Interestingly enough, it was the people who have dealt with me on a business level who stood up. Those of you who are e-warriors took the other side. Telling? Just a tad.
5k is alot for one instrument. I guess you have to ask yourself if commercial is the line of business you want to get in.
Honestly, that is where the money is. On the average residential roof I can clear about $1500 or so, while I am tied to it for the above average labor warranty of five years for that.
On commercial, I can easily clear three or four times that and still be as competitive in pricing as I am now. Also, in repairs, I can clean house. Hell, in the last two days I've gone in where two other companies have tried before and actually identified the problems they missed, and identified a huge AC unit that's about to come crashing through the roof that they missed. The AC company hacked up a support beam and three others have cracked almost in half, one has broken completely. The roof has dropped about six inches! That would have resulted in a huge lawsuit, which will hopefully gain me a really solid customer who refers me to other property management companies.
It's what you make of it. I plan on making it the most that I can...

Mike, first of all, good for you and your business! I envy you for finding a way to be your own boss.
Secondly, don't waste any time respoding to onedouchejixxer750. He's a troll.
Third, stop being so sensitive. People in life will fuck with you, and people on this board will REALLY fuck with you if you give them any motivation to do so. Getting defensive is only going to make things worse. It's just a message board. Laugh it off!

$1500 residential * ~3.5(avg gain on a enterprise job) = $5250
Seems like the first job should cover the equipment. Just buy it.
