4-6 nights a week. On a weekday, Usually 2-3 short Vodka Tonics (mixed 50/50). Weekends, a fair bit in the evening, but I don't lose control of myself either. I could definitely ingest far more booze on the weekend, and still be functionable.

My first drink for the night is about half done.

BTW, I'm not married, live alone, and I'm in school, so there's no reason not too.

I very much enjoy the TASTE of beer, wine & a few mixed drinks. I don't like the effects beyond 1 drink.....life is too short to be fuzzyheaded, sleepy & just feel dull. I have maybe 10-15 drinks a YEAR.

I might have one or two beers during the weekday. If I go out on the weekend and depending on who's driving ill drink a lot. But I usually only end up drinking 4 - 6 beers with a few shots mix in.

2 to 7 nights a week. Mon-Wed maybe just 4 or 5, if at all. Thur probably 6-9 beers, Fri and Sat 9-12 beers, and Sunday could go either way. I only drink liquor when I want to make a fool of myself.

I usually drink 2-3 nights a week and 2-4 beers. Some weeks are less, especially in the winter. However once it warms up happy hour drinking on patios increases significantly for me, it is not unusual at all to kill 6-8 beers with friends when it is nice outside.

I'm not really grouping parents, grandparents or the elderly in this, though I guess you could, but mainly friends and their spouses, thirty-somethings. It seems like we all drink on a regular basis without reservation.

I was brought up in a household where there was no alcohol kept in the house and I could probably count on one hand how many times I saw my parents drink when I was growing up. So, well in to my teenage years, I regarded alcohol as being "bad" or "off limits", not because it was pounded in to my brain that it was, in fact, it was rarely discussed, it was more due to lack of exposure. My grandparents were not drinkers either. I have friends who grew up the same way, yet we all drink regularly. It wouldn't be illogical for one to think that with our upbringing, we wouldn't be drinkers.

I have no shame saying that I thoroughly enjoy a good beer and even more so, a good bourbon. I have at least one beer or one cocktail 5-6 days a week. I treat it as a simple reward to myself. On any given Friday or Saturday night, make that 2-4. Some days I don't drink at all, but they are few compared to the ones that I do. It seems like a lot of the people I know have a similar drinking schedule and judging by some folks facebook pages, it seems as if their bodies should be rejecting their livers any time now.

Do you think society is drinking more? Less? What has changed, if anything? Was I just sheltered?

So, how much are you drinking?
Jimmy, I am almost identical. I would quit drinking 100% if I could smoke a joint, though.

A lot - strictly beer. Much less the last year though with the job and now the baby boy.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

It's been almost two years since I had a drop of alcohol. Today I filled my first prescription of medicine (antibiotics) in 6 years. I turned 32 yesterday, and I'm as healthy as ever. I'm not trying to live forever, but I am single and loving it, so it's more about the sex appeal and to keep the random snatch coming.

Society is drinking and using more now than ever. One in 6 Americans is addicted to an opiate. We're overmedicating our children, then feeding them processed shit while they sit on social media. Too many lazy, unhealthy, disgusting, fatboddies out there and I'm never going to be one of them.

So for me it's just personal choice. One day I will order a Guiness, or jump in on a round of shots, but until then I am working on being healthy and being able to wake up everyday feeling better than the last.

Since I don't have as many drinking buddies down here, I don't go out as much. Most of my friends here are older, with families, so we typically hang out at their place or mine, so their kids can run around and do what kids do.

There's plenty of little bars, but I'm not a solo, go to a bar sort.
