That's ridiculous.

I don't grow a metric shit-ton of facial hair, but what I do grow is thick as hell. I shave every other day and a razor lasts a good month. I'm interested to see if this works or not...

Shaving your head wears them out fast. I used to go through a ton. And you can't use one too long or you start cutting yourself.

when you shave do you always shave with the grain? i have some pretty thick facial hair and when i shave i shave with the grain, against the grain, and side to side over the grain. basically, i shave in every direction. takes a bit longer but it keeps me from having to shave every single day...

I shave with the grain and when that's all cut, I go back "up" against the grain. When I'm done, it's smooth in any direction. When I wake up, I've got a 5 o'clock shadow. By end of day 2, I'll have 1/8" whiskers. The crappy thing is it seems to slow down. When I've gone a week without shaving, it'll maybe be 1/4" or so. By then it's so annoying I cut it all off. I've never gone beyond a week.

Piece of leather works better. Cut up an old shoe.

Well, I tried this out and just about 4 days ago switched to a new razor. I think it's a Mach 3 blade if I recall. I used jeans a few times, but usually just used a fuzzy hand towel since it is already hanging nearby.

I got sick and tired of buying whatever Gillette's latest/greatest. Bought a Merkur safety razor. A pack of replacement blades is a couple of bucks for five. Got a good brush/shaving soap/mug. Shaves like a dream.

I will never go back to Gillette throwaway crap.
