Honestly I'd get rid of all forms of alcohol in the house to start. One of my good friends is a cougar in her 40s and does the exact same thing as your wife. She has to drink every night, says she doesn't have to but does and its sad how it controls her.

Yeah, my wife is a cougar of sorts. I'm only 25 and she is 42. She was a bartender for 13 years and now that she has grown up and gotten a "real job" (pathologist asst.) she has but one habbit to kick. I got her to kick smoking, but I truly think that she wanted to quit. Now drinking... I believe that is a different story all together.

I specifically said options, because they are just that, I was not inferring that is what is warranted at this step, or appropriate for you, certainly with kids involved. I feel for you man, you are "stuck" until she decides to slow down or quit.

She will take steps to make sure she picks up whatever on the way home, or unless he's got her strapped to the chair, she will make a run to the closest beer store. I'm not Dr. Drew, I am just speaking from experience, one of being a "functioning alcoholic" like his wife myself, and two of having grown up with the stereotypical 24x7 drunk in my family.

Thanks for not taking that the wrong way, but for the record we don't have any kids and probably won't. About a 1 in 1,000 chance, (been to the fertility dr's) But I just have to learn how to deal with it better or get her to stop. I think that the only way to get her to stop would be for me to quit all together just to start things...

from what you described slowyellow, it does sound like she is. if you want i can give you my uncles phone number, he was a crazy alcoholic but went to AA and has been sober for 20 years in march. he goes to meetings and talks to people or friends of people who want or need to stop. he is an odd artsy kind of guy, but helping people with addiction is something he is very passionate about

You know, I've heard that same shit my whole life, but according to some show I was watching on Discovery Channel or TLC a while back, there actually have been two cases of people dying from marijuana overdose. Still not a lot, but two is more than zero. This happened to be a show that cast marijuana in a fairly positive light, which seems to be the case for a lot of those shows I watch.
