Paid off the car. Now what? (reg title)

When I paid my truck off, the people at the tax office said there was nothing for me to do. I didnt get a new title.

So you never got a title for your vehicle?

The lein holder has to send you a title or at the very least if you somehow have the title they have to sign off on the lein holder field or else you wont ever be able to transfer it.


When I paid off my vehicles my credit union was the lein holder and they sent me the titles, signed off, in about 2-4 weeks.

**EDIT** Maybe I or you misunderstood. There is nothing you or the OP need to do at the tax office. The title should come to you in signed off and needs nothing. He was asking about the leinholder sending the title, not the tax office.

Sorry, yea I got a title in the mail and I believe they signed the lien holder portion, I just assumed I needed to do something else at the tax office and they said there was nothing left to do.

Lien holder will mail you the title. Nothing for you to do after that other than put it in the safe and enjoy.
