Paid off the car. Now what? (reg title)

So I sent my final payment online to payoff my car. Does the leinholder send me the title now?

Is there anything else I need to do or just keep paying my insurance and getting my tags like I've been doing for the past 4 years? This was my first financed vehicle so this is new to me...

Lender should send title. If you had gap and paid off early, get with the dealer so they can notify gap people of early payoff and you can get a prorated refund

They should send you a title with a signature toward the bottom, which releases the lien and a letter explaining that you've paid the account in full. You then take that to DPS and file for a "new" title, which you'll receive in the mail. The new title will show no lien.

No gap insurance so im good on that part.

It wasnt that bad $305 + $70 for insurance. But I dont know how someone can pay two or three times more for a car payment. That shit cray! It'll be nice to have the extra money for (more) beer and fajitas on the weekends!

Kids straight out of high school first time on their own and they hit "Bob's Used Car Lot" for their first car and let "Joe's Finance" do the financing for them. Insane interest rates and high principals.

A car payment isn't a bad thing as long as you don't get in over your head and can keep the car "right side up" so to speak.

When I paid my truck off, the people at the tax office said there was nothing for me to do. I didnt get a new title.
