I'm not saying that it isn't dumbshit... but if am racing someone down the highway and a cop lights us up, and my buddy pulls over for the cop, I sure as fuck ain't going to stick around.

      So you're condoning felony evasion?

It ain't evading if the cop ain't chasing. I've employed this tactic a dozen times in my youth. The other person pulls over first and the cop goes for them, peace out!

I'd roll the dice. If the cop pulls the buddy over, I think it could be articulated that he's no longer in pursuit of me. The statute reads:
"A person commits an offense if he intentionally flees from a person he knows is a peace officer attempting lawfully to arrest or detain him."
If the cop pulls in and stops behind the other person, how is he still trying to arrest/detain me? If another unit somehow gets me, sure, it's entirely possible to get popped for evading, but I think any attorney worth a shit would get it reduced to speeding, or at worst "racing on highway".

Yeah, run from the cops...worked for him... (happened Sept. 30th)...

Plano Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on northbound Central Expressway on Friday afternoon.

Police responded about 3:15 p.m. to the wreck at Central Expressway and East Parker Road. Witnesses told police that a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed had collided with another vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The identity of the motorcycle driver is being withheld until relatives can be notified. The investigation is ongoing.

DPD policy "limit pursuits to suspects linked who were linked to violent crimes like murderer, robbery and rape."

I'm not advocating that somehow go all balls out and act like a hooligan (although I guess doing 111+ down the highway kinda negates this). i.e. if a cop is trying to pull a single person over. My point is that if he lights us both up, and my friend pulls over, and the cop pulls over with him... I'm not planning to just pull over and take it. I'd get back down to the speed limit and get the hell off the highway... not advocating that someone act like a fool in the process.

Seriously, your gonna risk death, or a felony over a speeding ticket? Sometimes I do not understand the logic behind a person's thinking.

Uh, he could have easily been hit with a felony riding with another rider at the same high speed.

No felony speeding. Only a felony if you run and utilize a vehicle or someone is injured...

Lol at all the recommendations to break more laws as an answer to breaking the first.

That's why I RARELY ever write those. If the person is doing over that and I know that they have DL, INS, no history, etc. I always write it for 24 over so it won't go on their record.
