OP, get a muffaletta sandwich at Central Grocery, and go to almost any of French restaurant for some pommes souffle and sauce bernaise.

I haven't been since before Katrina hit. I would like to get back but I wouldn't take my kid. Not because I am worried about the crime, but because I like to party.
