  • Good family beach vacation?

Where is a good place to fly and take the kids on a beach vacation? Ideal situation would be a resort type hotel with kids activities/fun pools right on the beach. Budget is around $2500 or so including flight/hotel for 4, maybe 5. We'd like to go East coast (Myrtle Beach, Destin, Bahamas, etc.) We aren't wanting to go to Mexico or CA. We've done that. Any personal experiences would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don't think we could go for that price with 5 of us including air.

But like where? I'm wanting plenty of things to do with the kids without having to get a car. Like somewhere that has a boardwalk with games and stuff, then the beach, then activities at the hotel-that kind of stuff. Also looking at Bahamas...

We had a good experience at Destin/Ft. Walton beach. This was 10 years ago, but was enjoyable sans the nasty sun burn I got. Beaches were clean. We stayed at a condo on Okaloosa Island. Plenty of top notch sea food restaurants in Destin harbor.

I'm pricing it at right at $3000 with air just looking at the travel sites. You get a better rate if you book directly with the hotel. Option 2 is you can leave the kids with Grandma and you and Craig can go with us.

On a side note, Bolongo Bay is running a special. Teachers stay free--5 day, all-inclusive--during spring break when traveling with another all-inclusive guest.

Orange Beach Alabama is a good place. Alittle cheaper than Destin and the same quality of sand. I live on Lake Ponchartrain and go to the beaches in Mississippi. They are just now starting to get touristy again after Katrina.

I've not been to a resort in the US that's anything like what you get AI in Mexico or otherwise in the caribbean unfortunately.

When we go to Destin, we rent a condo that is on the beach (ie. just walk down the stairs and you're on the sand) and we tend to cook at the condo a lot. I'll take a fishing trip early in the week so we'll have fresh fish most of the time (last time was red snapper).

You could look into a cruise out of Miami?
