Call center people

This happened at my last job. They stopped outsourcing customer care and brought it in-house. Before you knew it the parking lot was ghetto trash galore, the smoking area was over run with loud and outspoken opinion, the bathrooms just got plain nasty and the break rooms were just as bad. Filthy people. I'm sure there were a few regular folks in there just trying to make a pay check or advance in some way, but I was too disgusted to see them.
My new job has nothing of the sort.

I used to manage one but now I transition complete service desks. You get different calibers when you refer to "service desk." If you answer a call and read from a script, that is one caliber. You have another caliber that actually carries some experience, knowledge, troubleshooting, and know-how. With that being said you get a different 'environment' with each of those.
I have been to more call centers than you can shake a stick at and it really depends on where geographically it is that determines the type of people that work there. I have been to some that it was all young guys right out of school, others it is old people who have loads of experience.Last edited by 347Mike; 02-08-2012, 06:18 PM.Originally posted by Cmarsh93zDon't Fuck with DFWmustangs...the most powerfull gang I have ever been a member of.

A few years ago Bank of America opened a huge call center in my building. The people are pretty much as you describe. The ride up on the elevator is usually spent listening to these people complain about other people which is completely ironic to me. We had a tornado warning a year ago, the alarms went off in the building and almost all of these idiots stood in the center of the building 8 stories beneath the glass roof (I work at the Infomart).DamonH

Give me a break guys. I've got no problem with tats, but if you've got them somewhere they can't be covered, you've effectively eliminated yourself from a ton of careers. Don't be mad at me about it, I didn't invent the rules. Are they more socially "acceptable" now? Yes. That doesn't just mean you can walk in somewhere, throw your cock on the counter and get a job.
