I bought my Titan from NTN back in the summer of '05 and got a great deal on it. The guy that set everything up for me was on stangs, Rosco or something to that effect. Told him what I needed and what I had in my Cobra and he took care of everything sight unseen through pm's. I was floored. Came out smelling like roses. Rob came down to meet me and was very cordial and thanked me for my business.

Now, the other half of my story is how my mom wound up in one of those famous financed lease deals that they were becoming notorious for. I couldn't be there with her, but talked to the "go to" sales guy for stangs members several times and he assured me he would take care of her. That was his way of telling me he was going to try and fuck her six ways to Sunday. Rob even came down and talked to her and she said he was very nice. I was pissed about it for a long time. It's one thing to screw someone over, but to stand there and smile and put on the charm while you do it to their face is flat out cock sucker. I can't say that Rob knew what was going on, but I also think he may have turned a blind eye to some of it possibly because he was on his way out. I hope I'm wrong.

What was the deal on that lease finance thing Jimmy? I never understood that, I've both leased and purchased new cars, but they had to be doing something really off to have that many pissed off people.

x2. My Murano was a lease, but it's not like they told me it was a purchase when it was a lease. I went in wanting a lease.

i think it was just a company that was using his name...it seems like i remember someone saying that avery johnson didn't actually have any ownership.

There may be different versions of it, but I think the principle is the same. They find a buyer that has "x" monthly payment in mind and do everything they can to not discuss the price of the car or what they need to put down or how much they're upside down, etc. Just keep them happy by meeting their monthly payment need and saying it would be no more than a 60 month term. The whole deal is carried out like any other purchase. Once in the finance office the paperwork looks the same as purchase paperwork and if you don't read every single line and box that's checked, you never know that once your term is up, you have a huge balloon payment on the back end and no one ever makes mention of it. They rush someone who doesn't know any better through the process and hope they don't catch it until it's too late.

Now I've leased a vehicle before and purchased several. My lease paperwork practically came out and kicked you in the balls and screamed that it was in fact a lease. I went over her paperwork and it looked almost identical to mine from my Titan purchase other than a few check boxes and fine print. She didn't even have the famed colored sheet of paper saying that by signing you understand this is a lease, not a purchase.

This is my understanding of what was happening as well. That's why they switched to the big sheet of paper saying "this is a lease", or "this is a purchase". I know when I bought my 350Z from them that piece of paper didn't exist, then when I bought my Titan a couple of years later, it was part of the paperwork package.

I don't remember the paper being there or not on the Highlander, but it was with the altima. Both transactions were recoreded, and we have to vocally acknoledge that it was a purchase and not a lease. Maybe they changed policies before we got there.

I bought the 350Z in 2004-2005, and the Titan in 2007, so it changes somewhere in there.
