RICHRDSON, Texas - A DART officer and two passengers were injured in a shooting in Richardson on Tuesday.

DART representative Mark Ball said the incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. near DART's Arapaho Center Station at Highway 75 and Arapaho Road.

He said a male suspect opened fire, striking the female officer in the shoulder and injuring two passengers.

Ball said police chased the suspect. The alleged shooter apparently suffered a fatal gunshot at the nearby Vent-A-Hood business at 1051 N. Greenville Ave. It was not clear if that wound was self-inflicted.

The officer's injury is not life-threatening, Ball said. The passengers' conditions were not known.

DART reported that lightrail trains would bypass the station until furhter notice.

He took off after he shot the DART officer and ran into Ventahood, where he shot himself. This was a few hundred yards from our building, I knew something was up when I heard the box and and an engine running code followed by helicopters above. Good times.
