Larger companies like Halliburton and Baker Hughes treat their employees more like a regular job with the amount they make you work. If you don't mind working hard and being away from your family I say do it, if not get a job that supports the oilfield market like mine. Get the money from the oilfield when it is high and other industries when it hits rock bottom again.

I was in a 7 hour meeting today with Baker Hughes and they have had one of the biggest turnovers in executives I've seen. New start-ups are buying people away at an alarming rate. Only problem is, the big guys like Baker, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Weatherford etc... will still be here long after these "up-and-comers" are long gone.

yep, we run all 20 pump online from the TMV. One guy monitors them on 4 screens. Glitchy at times, but for the most part it works great.

Went from Active Duty Military, to doing foreign military contract work overseas, back to the states working for a water company, and then jumped in with an oil company. Pretty much every move I have made since I graduated high school has been relatively big, and worth it every time.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

So what is the easiest way to get into one of these position? I know applying and all that but my resume isn't that spectacular. I've been in school since I left high school and not working. I'm a 22 year old kid and I want to give this a shot. Any info on how would be greatly appreciated..

Have you seen the members who hold these positions? A spectacular resume is far from a prerequisite.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

But not working or having that work "experience" has been holding me back from almost every position I apply for. I'm a college educated kid and i'm just looking for a job until I can afford to go back to school. I don't want to work at mickeydeez or anything and I have a few guys I know went this route and make good money quickly. I'd be able to pay for the rest of school relatively soon doing this type of work and, that's what i'm looking for..

edit: if typos exist in this blame it on seagrams; separated with my gf of two years tonight..

                    Don't do this

I'll no longer be a free man! And I was hoping someone around here could tell me where the least expensive place to get flowers in Fort worth is. I have been getting prices here and there, and those things are dang expensive! All for something that just dies in no time. I feel like its a terrble waste. But oh well what can

Start applying down here in Midland, literally every company is hiring. Depending on what your degree is, I would try some of the directional companies. A lot of them are desperate to hire MWD's and will hire anyone they think can learn it. Make lots of cash chilling in a trailer on a rig most of the time watching TV.

Here are a few off the top of my head.

                        Intrepid
                        Scientific Drilling
                        Baker Hughes Intec
                        Black Viper
                        Leam
                        DDC
                        Pathfinder

Wireline, Frac Crews, Pulling Units, etc are always hiring as well. Many of the oil companies are hiring pumpers with no experience to train. Check out rigzone.com lots of info there.

edit: I applied with CUDD but never heard anything back, that was almost 2 months ago..

Hell if you need to put some distance between you and the GF. One of the other Halliburton etechs I talked to said they shipped his ass overseas(Africa, I think). He made some serious coin and had no bills or time to spend it. Now he's back here still making good money and has a good cushion.

That is pretty much exactly what i'm looking for. I'd love to be able to do that but, I just haven't been given the opportunity too. And no this isn't one of those poor pitiful (my life sucks) post's at all. I know I could work at some shit place for 8 bucks an hour but, that wont pay for school.
