I'm getting ready to paint my jeep hot rod black. I want a durable semi gloss black (not flat). Does anyone have some good suggestions? Needs to be durable, have a decent sheen, and does NOT chalk up or scratch easy.

call me crazy, but have you looked into the $50 rustoleum roll on paint job? It is super tough, rust inhibiting, doesn't make a mess, and looks dang good.
Did it to my $500 89 Mark VII. Paint was real bad, and starting to rust. I did a quick wet sand, and washed it. Thinned the paint with mineral spirits, and applied thin coats with 4" high density foam roller. have had it on there for a few months now, hasn't faded or chipped anywhere. I dropped my keys on the roof once (work and home keys about 20 damn keys on the rings). Was real impressed that there wasn't a scratch on it.
mind you the bumpers and grill only had one coat on them. two more coats and they will look like the rest of the car.
It's not for everyone, but if you want a descent paint job for cheep its nice.

I have considered it, but I'm just super fucking anal about even application, and I have a good spray gun and everything I need. The only other issue is SEM Hot Rod Black is $59 for their kit, which is enough to do my jeep. I have a lot of real complex bends and tight areas where panels meet inside which I think roll on would make really hard to do.1997 viper gts

My friend that does high end paint jobs tried twice (two different brands) on my 68 Camaro but the matte clear was streaking so we gave up and gloss cleared it. This was his first time doing a full car matte. He had only done trim pieces before this.
