I can't believe you've never met someone who grew up poor.

Poor is hereditary. You grow up around people that can't manage their finances; there is a strong possibility you'll end up the same way.

Having a shitload of money won't cure poverty. It'll just prolong rock-bottom... Just ask some former lottery winners.

Very true. You have to learn to not be poor. I still backslide but thank the good Lord, I'm making some forward strides.

I grew up not wanting, we weren't rich, but I wouldn't say poor. #3 is all me though, I always spend a lot more at xmas time. Giving truly is better than recieving.

I'm just stingy. I hate giving gifts when I can barely afford the shit I want to buy myself. I'm not rich either so most things must wait...

                BTW, I love Ramen noodles....

                  5) You develop a taste for shitty food

I eat some trash, ain't gonna lie, but I've actually developed a taste for expensive shit

                  4) Extra money has to be spent right goddamn now!!

I still have a streak of that in me. I'm hood rich at the moment and trying not to buy a C5 or an RV. I've been able to keep meditating on the shop that I want to build, and I haven't spent any money on anything I don't need.

                  3) You want to go overboard on gift giving

I'm a notorious over-tipper... but traditional holiday gifts? GFY I don't buy into that shit

                  2) You become an excessive bean-counter

I hate spending money. I bought an ultra-small house because I didn't want to take on massive debt. Down side is I have an ultra-small house. Upside is I could pay it off right now if I wanted to.

                  1) You only spend with the short term in mind

                  not guilty

This. The biggest difference between poor and rich is not how much money people make but how they think about money. Generally, poor people don't educate their children about money at all because they think it won't do any good.

                            YUP...

my mother's father did REALLY well for himself... my dad did very well for himself...

                            both came from absolutely nothing.

neither educated their family about money. I think because they were too focused on making it while they could?

Because your list was almost entirely wrong. I grew up poor and we never wasted money on the lotto, everyone we knew always had old cheap cars, nobody ever took wrestling seriously, and poor people NEVER trust the government.
