  • Questions regarding auto loan payoff

I want to payoff the loan early on my fiance's car but had a few questions. The loan is under her name only, can I send a check with my name? Once payoff is sent does the leinholder (Nissan Financial) send the title and its done? How long does it take to get the title?

Id like to do this as a surprise x-mas gift for her and I doubt Nissan will talk to me about this since Im not on the loan...

It doesn't matter who sends the check or whos name it's in, they don't care as long as they get their money. They will automatically send the title to the name and address assigned to the loan. It could take 2-6 weeks to receive it depending on the leinholder.

I am by no means an expert but I wouldnt think they would really care who send the check as long as they get theirs. Not idea about the rest of that stuff

The lien holder will not care who sends the check, just make sure in the notes section you list the account number. If you do send a personal check, it will take 10 business days before they release the vehicle (14 days). If you send certified funds (cashier's check) it will be released immediately. You will receive a title with the front signed to release the lien. You take that to the title office and register it in your name. I would call them and tell them what you're doing, they might work with you, it all depends on the lender. However, they will not release the title to you because of the retail contract, but they will mail it to the address on the account.
