$3600 can go a long way when you're out of work and need to be a minimalist.

I totally agree with you for the most part, but anyone with a $1,000+ mortgage won't stretch $3,600 very far, and selling a house isn't an immediate process, nor is it necessarily the smartest thing to do during a temporary lay off.

I'm not speaking about Chris' situation specifically, as I don't know the details, but there are plenty of people that haven't over-extended themselves, and end up in debt because of losing their job for an extended period.

Not sure how I got on their list initially, but things have been tight lately due to creating a lifestyle over the past 5 years or so based on a usually cush and steady income and the unemployment check I am getting every two weeks, allbeit <==(even a word? LOL) the maximum, does not cover what's going out each month, so I have been going backwards. I think juggling around various financial obligations and having to stagger a few things around as far as paying bills might have gotten me into a credit range that makes me a target for things like high interest credit cards, loan consolidation offers, discount coupons for instant rebates on car purchases, etc.

I actually am going to be just fine now even if I have to ride it out for a few more months, one thing I did not count on was being unemployed for this long and having to rely on money put back for retirement that's not right at my fingertips.

Having access to 1200 bucks of ready cash on THAT day was actually a blesing that was right on time and saved me quite a bit of headache regarding a particularset of circumstances that credit card advances weren't the better option, and couple that needing a fairly instance results and BAM the check was turned into cool hard cash pretty quick, LOL.

Anyway I think I am on the verge of disclosing more personal info than I care too, but I haven't posted in a while and this is about the most interesting thing going on in my life right now that I can make a story out of.

Well, mostly stuff you can ride on LOL. But there are a few audio and video things. My home theater was my house warming gift to myself. I had been working on the road for 2 years and had no bills and saved every penny. So when it came time to buy a house I had no problem buying whatever I wanted for the remodeling of the house, plust the home theater stuff since I'd been watching square TVs in the hotels..

Plus I bought a couple of project cars and got lots of good parts for my current car out of the dealings, including a built Dart Iron Eagle longblock for FREE out of one of the deals.

Hell, things were good back then, ha ha
