  • Dad Gets Restraining Order Against Son’s 4th Grade Bully

Of course this is in California. I kinda side with the Dad on this but WTF is this world coming to? It also looks to me like the school is breaking California law by not expelling the kid with the knife.

When did common sense in our country die?

    Video at the link

How far would you go to protect your child from bullies? One Southern California dad filed for a temporary restraining order against his son’s 4th grade classmate who allegedly threatened his son.

Robert Casteel’s son, 10-year-old Christopher, was “terrified to go to school” after his classmate pulled out a knife during class, threatening that he would “get you after school,” the father told ABC News. Christopher alerted his teachers about the incident, and Robert called the cops, who confiscated a 2½-inch pocketknife from the boy. The student’s punishment? Just 5 days suspension.

Unimpressed with the school’s response, Casteel filed for a restraining order that requires the classmate to stay at least 20 feet away from his three children.

"I don't feel like I am overreacting," Casteel said. "I feel like it could have been a different situation. What if the kid would have actually stabbed my son?"

When did a good ole fashioned ass whoopin' quit settling disputes for kids? Either let the kid kick the bully's ass so that he learns his lesson, or let the bully kick the kid's ass and move onto someone else until he does learn.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

This will guarantee that kid doesn't get his ass beat. What a bitch move by the dad, just another kid that will turn to the government for protection and provision.

I kind of side with him too. If anyone pulls a knife on my son, there are going to be more than 5 days suspension involved in the punishment.

Nah, the knife means an ass beating from the principals paddle.

I agree with the dad considering the way school works now. In the old days(a whooping 10 years ago), you could kick a kids ass and that was that. Now you get ticketed, your parents are fined, you might be expelled, or even end up in juvi.

I agree with what the dad did. The bulley is obviously troubled and already brought a weapon to school once and all they do is suspend him? The dad took matters into his own hands and forced the school to do something with that idiot kid using a restraining order. Now the school has to move the kid or violate the order.

My oldest kid was drawing while in elementary class years ago and was drawing "army guys" and was suspended for a week for DRAWING weapons. I thought that was overly harsh but at least he didnt bring a real one! This kid brings a real one, makes a threat with it and gets the same punishment?

Suspended from Elementary school for drawing guns? I'd sue the fuck out of them.

                  Quoted for truth.

And with zero tolerance, you get good kids expelled for even an honest mistake. Wasn't some kid expelled recently for bring a Spork to school..

At some point we're going to have to let people start making judgements on things like intent. A kid that brings a spork to school get a hand slap at worse. A kid that brings a knife and threatens someone gets an ass beating.

Lason- WOW. I drew all kinds of bombs and guns and war when I was a kid in school. That is idiotic.

No shit. That is way over the top. I probably drew dozens of battles as a kid. GI Joe may have been an influence.

they are 10 years old! but then again this generation of kids now a days there's no telling what they would or wouldn't do.

And its all these damn parents hovering over them and preferring them to be "safe" inside playing video games and watching tv instead of going outside until the street lights came on.

This type of shit right here makes me not even want to bring a kid in to this pussy-fied world we live in now!

More than 10 years ago. I got into a "fight" in 8th grade (kid shoved me into the wall a couple of times, I told him to knock it off, he shoved me again, and I dropped him). We both got ticketed (disorderly conduct in public, something like that), a week's suspension, and had to spend a day at McFadden Ranch, to show us what would happen to us if we didn't straighten up.

Shit like this would make me seriously consider home schooling since my wife and I are at home all day long. However, I've heard nothing but good things about Shady Shores Elementary, so I'll probably give them a chance.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
