Elmhurst, IL —
Elmhurst Police released the names of the two victims mauled by pit bulls Monday in Elmhurst.
Robert Moore, 63, suffered “severe injuries to his arms and legs,” and was treated by Elmhurst Paramedics and transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.
He remains at the hospital in stable condition, police said.
The second victim, Patricia Koprowski, 70, was transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital with injuries to her arm from a dog bite. She was treated and released, police said.
Elmhurst police responded to a 911 call around 5 p.m. requesting help for dogs attacking people in a home in the 600 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
Police arrived and shot the first dog as it was attacking Moore on the front porch, police said.
As an officer attempted to subdue the second dog, it turned to attack other officers on the scene and the officer shot it in self-defense with a shotgun, police said.
Elmhurst Police would not say who owned the dogs. A shift sergeant said that he was not aware of any pending charges.
