  • Any good Orthopedic Surgeon Recommendations???

Long story short, I got my foot jacked up playing indoor soccer 4 years ago. Diagnosed with Turf toe, it is NOT COOL. Turned into Hallux Rigidus, bone spurring, degenerative joint disease, etc etc. It still hurts, I can't push off my foot without pain, blah blah blah.

My Orthopedic tried everything, Custon orthopedic insoles, Shots directly into the joint, therapy, boot, nothing has worked long term. Latest X-Rays show a bone spur he wants to saw off. Says it will help the pain but not much else he can do.

Want a second opinion, I'm all for surgery if it's going to help, but he seemed less than enthused. Even at one point saying there isn't much they can do. That's encouraging huh?

Hook it up! Thanks as always!!!!

Stay away from Texas bone and joint clinic on Rosedale. Fucken Dr Brotherton is a quack IMO. He saw me three times for my shoulder, always was surprised I'm diabetic, asked each visit what meds I was taking and said surgery was my only option and he could do it that week. Screw that, therapy was all I needed!

Get some brown orthopedic shoes if you got a bad case of the gout.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Whenever you see a surgeon that says he can do it next week run.

First one I went to for my ankle pulled that mess on me. Second one wanted to exhaust all possibilities.

I've got a jacked up ankle. I needs some cleaning out at the joint and the ligaments tightened. I asked the "cut right now" surgeon how he knew how much to tighten them up and he said he just did. No money from me.

Other one wanted to do a boot. I've done that before and all it does is stop the pain for a few days, maybe weeks, and then it comes right back. My is a combo of old soccer injuries and a dirt bike accident.

Dr. J. Tieg Port in Mesquite replaced both of my dad's knees and he has recovered quicker than most people do. Dr. Port also performed surgery on my foot. Calcanel Osteotomy I think is what it is technically called. Had to cut my heel off, then install a wedge to relocate my heel in the proper location. He had to use a 1/2" wedge cause it was seriously jacked. I had gone to 6 different doctors trying to find out why my knees were hurting so bad and he is the ONLY doctor that treated the problem instead of the symptoms. It has been just over a year since I had the surgery and my knee pain is GREATLY reduced. When I first visited him he told me I needed surgery, but before he cut on me he put me in a foot brace. Told me he wanted me to think about it long and hard before I made the decision.

Send me a PM if you want his contact info. He's a great doctor that doesn't sugar coat it but he tells it so you can understand it too.
Annoying people, one post at a time!

Dr Paul T Fruedigman his office is next to Baylor in Dallas. I have a foot thanks to him after my railroad accident, and 4 other doctors saying there was nothing more they could do but amputate it. Dr Fruedigman came into the room and asked what I wanted to do, if I wanted to save it he could do it.

DR. Levy with Texas Sports Medicine just rebuilt my right shoulder. I'm not sure it's worth anything or not, but they take care of the mavericks and cowboys, and some of the stars too i believe.
It happens to be a well thought out and reasoned dissertation on drug use and a lyrical cost/benefit analysis of various kinds of drugs, drawing the conclusion that beer is the best of them all.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have a sencond opinion scheduled with Dr MyCoskie in Arlington. Skip recommended him, he sees some of the Rangers is what he was telling me. They screened my condition and then had to ask the Dr if he'd even be willing to see me. Sounds like he is in high demand, good for me. If this one doesn't go well, I'll try some of these

I tried Texas Sports Medicine, tried to get in to see Dr Suryeal, they don't accept my insurance with Cigna So I can't go there......

That doctor may be whack but Dr Bothwell there is quality- does all the TCU sports related stuff. I was very pleased with the surgery he did for my daughter for a 'jones' fracture of the foot.
