  • Help me fire my bank.

Tired of Wells Fargo. I guess I'm looking for a Credit Union with free billpay, no atm fees, etc. Is there any place that is nationwide that fits that criteria, or would I be better off opening an account at local union?

I've got all that through Compass. They even reimburse other ATM fees. Even $6 titty bar ATM fees.

I closed my Wells Fargo account two weeks ago, because they refused to cash MY personal check, wrote to cash, from my other bank.

"So, you're refusing to cash this check"
                "Yes"
"Where's the bank manager, I'd like to close my account"

So your saying you had an account at both banks, and Wells wouldn't cash the check you wrote to yourself?

That is pretty odd. I would understand if you didn't have an account with wells, but sometimes it is up to the banking center manager to decide.

                    Right.
I have a "First Command Bank" account.
I had a Wells Fargo account.
The check was from MY First Command account.
There wasnt enough cash in my Wells Fargo account to cover the check if it had bounced, but that didnt stop them the two months prior.
They could have verified funds with First Command easily.
The would have quickly saw that I was a DFWM thousandaire.

                    The check was $850.

Eric, what's your reasoning for closing out?

FWIW, I work for WF indirectly. They even give ME a hard time on somethings.

Every bank, or FCU has odd quirks - it's a matter of if it will affect you or not.

That was the problem. Interesting that they cashed it once before. Maybe the teller didn't do their job that time.

Had as in, at the time, it was an active account.

Could they not have verified funds with First Command? Is that impossible?
Am I the only mother fucker that has tried to cash a check for more money than I had in my account?

Either way, First Command, and USAA both refund my ATM fee's. I can easily just pull out $850 next time rent rolls around. Fuck 'em.
It was just nice to have a local bank.
